Subhranil..Hi from Boston...I know Shahidbhai...since the 1970's , my childhood..when he was in Mumbai..! Vow..jawab nahi..! This 'penchant' to play P D N S in Aroha ( like Yaman style.. )...not P direct N.....).once in a while is OK as 'embellishment'......repeated use...??
Hi.. nice to hear.. well, it is being played with an embellishment of p 'nd' n s r and not a flat p d n s and that makes a big difference in my opinion... this way was used by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan... who sang this bandish masterfully in this manner..

In the tradition, when a Guru and a disciple play together, it is not approached as a duet. But as a concert of the Guru where the disciple is accompanying. The success lies there. At one time in Kolkata Ustad Imdad Khansahab used to perform accompanied by his disciples and sons Ustad Enayat Khansahab and Ustad Wahid Khansahab. Later Ustad Vilayat Khansahab used to perform accompanied by Ustad Imrat Khan and Ustad Rais Khan and sometimes accompanied by Pandit Kashinath Mukherjee. The disciples' job was always to understand the mood of their Gurus and accompany accordingly. ✨️🎶
